Clarilis launches in Singapore

High growth legal technology business Clarilis is pleased to announce the opening of an office in Singapore and the appointment of Malik Anwar as Director of Clarilis’ Asian operations.

Clarilis is a market leading document automation platform and the largest team of automation specialists in the UK. Designed for law firms and in-house legal teams, the CLARILIS platform saves a significant amount of time in producing first drafts of all forms of legal documentation. Clarilis designs, implements and delivers fully managed automation projects for its clients.

Clarilis counts both corporate legal departments and leading private legal practices amongst its customer base - including Addleshaw Goddard, Baker McKenzie, GoCompare, Gowling WLG, Herbert Smith Freehills, National Grid, Slaughter and May, TLT and Travers Smith.

South East Asia, and Singapore in particular, is a key jurisdiction in the roll-out of Clarilis’ platform internationally; building on its success in the UK market.

Malik Anwar, who joins Clarilis from leading Singapore law firm Oon & Bazul, is set to lead a push for growth in the company’s operations in the region. Prior to his appointment as General Manager and Head of Business Development at Oon & Bazul, Malik worked in a variety of management and business development roles at organisations such as RHTLaw Taylor Wessing, CPA Australia, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and the Energy Market Authority of Singapore, a statutory board of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. He was also extensively involved in jurisdictions such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong where he either had responsibility for the local team or spent a period of time living in these countries. Malik is an Economics and Management graduate from Singapore and New Zealand. He also possesses a post graduate diploma in International Marketing from a leading Australian university.

Malik commented:

“It’s an exciting time to be joining Clarilis as they extend their global reach to Asia. Clarilis has quickly established itself as the market leading platform and managed service within the UK and the platform is already used by a number of firms in multiple jurisdictions worldwide. It is no secret that the Singapore government is committed to creating a first-class Smart Nation by harnessing and leveraging technology, networks and data to create solutions and innovations across the country. Clarilis South East Asia is poised to leverage and contribute to this growth in Singapore and SEA.”

James Quinn, CEO and Co-Founder of Clarilis, added:

“It’s great to welcome Malik on board to lead our Singapore office and South East Asian expansion. Malik has a strong background in business development and has worked with a wide variety of businesses across the region, in particular working with global organisations to test bed and commercialise their technologies in Singapore. His appointment comes at an interesting time for the SEA market, where there’s a strong focus on legal technology that can drive efficiencies in the delivery of legal services.”
